Our History

Coach My Sport (CiC) received funding from School for Social Entrepreneurs Scotland to start a pilot programme whose business model was to use the profit from the coaching to fund the social side of the CiC which was to eventually deliver an employability programme.

Coach My Sport was incorporated as CiC with Companies House on the 26th September 2017 but only started trading in January 2018. Towards the end of 2018 after receiving additional funding from Firstport and Young Start we launched the CMS Academy with our first cohort starting in January 2019 with Keith Brown coming along to open the Academy. We initially used the Education Through Cashback (ETC) modules from Scottish Sport Futures as the Academy was very much sport orientated.

This business model worked well until Covid and lockdown which meant this was no longer a viable business model.

Since returning from lock down we have evolved the programme and we no longer run coaching classes and our Academy has had a name change and we are now ACTS Scotland CiC. The Academy has now moved away from ETC modules to ASDAN courses as they offer a much wider scope for development of young people who might not be that inclined to follow a sporting career.

In the past few years our Employabity Skills Development (ASDAN) programme for young people has gained momentum as a consequence of Covid, lockdown and the downturn in the economy. The Academy can now offer a wide range of courses to suit all learners from 14 – 25.
